Two Thanksgivings

We were a bit spoiled this year with two Thanksgiving diners. My mom is out of town this weekend so she hosted a lovely family dinner last weekend, in a rustic French family style. This weekend Andrew and I prepared our own Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, I added my special accompaniment to the meal: Stove Top stuffing (Shhh! Don't tell my mom!). I know it's not the best, but I like it for some reason.

We took our time preparing our seasonal favorites while enjoying the fireplace and view of the outdoor surroundings. The color of our neighbors apple tree is so spectacular this time of year!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving so we hosted a small family dinner last night. Thanks so my mom's business, MEEZ Cuisine and Catering, we enjoyed a delicious gourmet pre-cooked feast. All we had to do was 'heat and serve' courtesy of our pal, Chef Judy Wood, and her outstanding team at MEEZ.

I contributed a few snacks to nibble on before the meal. That's about the extent of my culinary talent.

I added a few of Purdy's foil chocolate leaves and a couple of their milk chocolate turkeys to the table for fun. Andrew selected some lovely autumnal flowers for the occasion.

For the grand finale, two heavenly desserts; a pumpkin praline tart and lemon curd tart from my favorite bakery, Brulee Patisserie. Many thanks, Jen!

~Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving!~

Thanksgiving Al Fresco

So, we were able to have our rustic Thanksgiving outdoor feast after all! We set-up a table for 10 outside, and a table for 6 inside so guests had the option. Overall, it was a great night and we even had the honor of having our good friend, Chef Judy Wood as a guest. A big thank-you to my cousin's wife, Melissa for snapping this shot while all the activity was going on in the kitchen!

We returned from San Francisco and Napa Valley on Friday. Was gorgeous. Lots to share soon!

Giving Thanks

It's Canadian Thanksgiving! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Monday up here while our American friends to the south observe Columbus Day. We're celebrating with a lovely five course catered meal tonight. We actually declined a family dinner invitation because we are working on more unpacking (yes, still unpacking), organizing, and painting this weekend. More on the painting part to come....Probably the only part of the house that's actually 'ready' is the front door pictured above. While we've had a few headaches getting organized in our new home we are certainly thankful to have a nice home to enjoy.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

River Walk

On Thanksgiving day Andrew suggested that we take a nice walk along the river near our community. We captured some great shots of my favorite season. I've often thought it's strange that I love autumn and its colors  so much but I have never incorporated an autumn palette into my home or wardrobe. Nevertheless, this season gets me in the mood for decorating.

Aren't all the planters outside these homes beautiful? I think I need to step it up at our house or have something made.
