Tranquil

I love seeking-out quiet moments and interesting nuances within the places we travel to. The history and beauty that lingers in Uptown Palm Springs is such a favorite of mine.

Thank you to: Copley's, Trio, Old Las Palmas, The Movie Colony, The Colony Palms Hotel, The Purple Palm, Workshop Kitchen+Bar, Bootlegger Tiki Bar, On the Mark, Shag the Store, Sherman's and Pelago for a such memorable trip!

Desert Get-Away

Would you believe I am actually looking forward to retreating to the desert, simply for some hydration? Yes, there is more humidity in the California desert right now than there is in this frigid climate. We've broken a 130 year record for snow fall too. Such fun.

I can't take it any longer and can't wait for our upcoming desert get away. A stay at this quietly luxurious resort should be a suitable remedy...I plan to be poolside with several litres of water in hand!

~ If you're suffering through a terrible winter too - hang in there! March is coming! ~

Blooms for the Winter Blues

I'm in desperate need of a reprieve from winter! Thank goodness warmer weather is apparent! It is difficult to believe that this gorgeous wintry wonderland  our city has become, will eventfully emerge into greenery and blossom in a few months time.

I've filled the house with the floral scent of Jo Malone's 'Orange Blossom' candles and have been taking a look back at my photos of local gardens in summer; as well as some bountiful blooms from our vacations over the past few years - has been very therapeutic! (Please take note, these are my original photographs!)

Can you guess where these locations are? See the answer key at the end of this post...

Winter has taken hold all over the globe it seems!.....

~ Wishing you warm and sunny days ahead! ~

...On the Beach!

We stopped by Shutters on the Beach recently for a nice breakfast and a walk along the ocean. I adore the look of this hotel and would love to re-do the exterior of our house by removing the horizontal wood planks and adding shakes.  I'd finish the look by adding some white metal deck railings in the x-cross style

Have you been inspired by a hotel interior or exterior?

White Roses

Is there anything more crisp and refreshing than a white rose?

How I would love to have a hedge bursting with their fragrant blooms...

~It's February 1st on Monday...One step closer to spring and roses!~

Lost Angeles

The Los Angeles that exists in my imagination, I can't seem to find. Not immediately anyway. One has to look deep. Really deep.

There are luxurious and nostalgic moments to be had while you 'island-hop' amongst the despair of dreams that has been left behind in this ironically named city.  Fortunately, this past week we found a haven in south Beverly Hills and its charming 1930's architecture:

~ So long, Los Angeles ~

Painted Ladies

I've been holding out on you with some of my favorite photos from our trip to San Francisco last October; the 'Painted Ladies'! If you aren't familiar with the term it is a nick name of sorts for Victorian and Edwardian houses painted in various colors to show-off their unique architecture.

Are you having your house painted this summer? Why not add some interest by adding a second and third color! If you're too shy for all that, you can always use an additional color just on your front door. Either way, have fun.... And enjoy the gorgeous week ahead!

Wine Country Highlights

A last look at California's wine country before we surrender to the snowy season upon us. Hope you're inspired....

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. If it's turning colder where you are - snuggle up!
