An Art Deco Christmas

So many hotels do such a fantastic job decorating for Christmas. A local favorite of mine is the Rimrock Hotel in Banff, Alberta. Tucked into a mountainside, each room has an incredible mountain view. I also appreciate that this hotel does not get the foot traffic from tourists that some others do. It's an intimate, quite retreat. Overall, the décor of the hotel is mixed, but there is an art deco influence; especially in their stunning art deco styled ballroom! Yes, I want a tuxedo sofa exactly like this for our living room. Oh, Santa!....

It's Christmastime! I'm really in the mood this year. But it's only December 4th, and already I'm so tired. I've taken a vitamin boost for some extra energy - here's hoping it does the trick. I've got 20 more days to go!

Forever Summer

Some day-dreamy summer images for you on this glorious long weekend featuring the beauty of the Glenmore Reservoir and Heritage Park here in Calgary. While it seems a country setting, this area is almost city center! Hope you enjoy...

Home on the Range

Last weekend we took a lovely drive out to the country. We went to visit my cousin and her boyfriend who recently purchased a large acreage northwest of our city. It's definitely a different pace of life out there; a refreshing, rustic retreat. Magnificent views, interesting historic outbuildings, and antiques left behind within them....their property was full of inspiration!

The stunning picturesque view to the west.

A classic John Deer green mailbox from Kaboodle would certainly fit in well out there!
Old farm equipment poses like intricate sculptures near the stables

Wouldn't it be wonderful to snuggle up with this cozy Pottery Barn throw and watch a storm roll in?

I love the worn green paint on this outbuilding - one of many filled with interesting antiques.
Hello nosy neighbors!
Their sweet puppy 'Sherlock' was exhausted after a day of exploring on the acreage.

Mountain Scene

We have just returned from a refreshing mini-break in the Rocky Mountains. Some  family members offered us a couple of nights in their luxurious condo in Canmore (Thanks guys!). The scene and sights in this mountain village had me warming up to autumn's impending arrival. Walking through the fresh woods, the trees gently whispered hints of the changing season. I was inspired and  in my head I was conjuring up some rustic looks and influences from the outdoors.
A historic church steeple on main street in Canmore
'Willow' is one of my favorite shops in Canmore. Their arrangements are always so stylish
'Stonewaters' is another fave. Their furnishings have a rustic, vintage vibe
'Art in the Park' takes place each weekend throughout the summer
